They bring a wide range of musical influences together to create their powerful persuasive music. 17 Jan 2018 - Edinburgh Folk Club - BRACK n FILE - BRACK n FILE comprises Rick Nickerson, Maureen Brack and Tony Mitchell with an eclectic bag of songs. With Maureen's versatile voice - that lass can sing anything and you listen, and Tony Mitchell's ever-inventive and stylish guitar playing dropped into the mix - this is going to be an evening of great music. Rick and Tony both played in the almost eponymous and well-known Rankin File trio with Canadian singer and songwriter Ian Rankin in the 1970s. Tony, one of EFC's residents, is very well-known as a guitar teacher, guitarist and composer writing for solo guitar. Tickets (£10, £9, £7, £5) from EFC’s on-line box office or on door.

24 Jan 2018 - Edinburgh Folk Club - BURNS’ SUPPER - EFC's Burns’ Supper has been a popular feature of the club's annual programme since we began in 1973. Then, in the basement of 23 George Square, we managed to bang out haggis, neeps and tatties for about 60 or so folk accompanied by Tam O'Shanter (with thunder effects), an immortal Immortal Memory by the late Hamish Henderson which ran to nearly 90 minutes (and no notes!), Holy Willie's Prayer, the late Ian Cruickshank 'piping' in the haggis on his moothie ... and so on. Great entertainment. This year as usual there'll be haggis et al, a proper piper in the form of Roddy MacDonald, the Selkirk Grace courtesy of Bill MacDonald and singing and tunes from George Duff, Kevin McLeod and Leo McCann, plus a floor spot or two. Good stuff all round and more memories to take away. Tickets (£16, £13, £10 – NB no concession price) from EFC’s on-line box office or on door.
