Born in the coastal town of North Berwick in Scotland, Madelaine grew up
listening to and singing Celtic music and songs. Her repertoire includes many traditional Scottish and Irish ballads, and folk songs by modern day composers such as The Corries, Dougie MacLean and Karine Polwart. She has a particular interest in the works of Robert Burns and enjoys performing his songs and reciting his poetry.
In 1991 Madelaine married an American and left her beloved Scotland, but
continued to sing as she moved from one continent to another. She eventually settled in the Rocky Mountain State of Colorado in 1999 where she quickly became a popular guest speaker and singer at local Burns Suppers. Having sung in a women's a cappella chorus, opera and musical theatre in the USA, Madelaine decided to concentrate on the music she loves most - the songs of her homeland, and her new CD "Away To The Westward" is the result.
In 2011 Madelaine and her family are moving back to Scotland where she plans to search for local musicians to sing with!
