Hilary Bell Singer, musician and actress, was born and brought up near the Border town of Gretna, and now lives in the inspirationally beautiful Yarrow Valley in the Scottish Borders. She studied music at Napier College, Edinburgh before graduating from the RSAMD (Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama). Hilary, who is a member of Equity, has broadcast regularly on radio and television, and is in constant demand for concert performances, weddings, Burns Suppers etc. and has appeared frequently with IDEOMS the Borders Theatre Company in many Fringe Productions including Crossfire, Instant Burns and for 2010 Burns Bites Back.
Hilary has 2 solo CDs to her credit including the following: Next Time Around BS125, Breaking All the Rules, Pride o' Borderland, War & Glaur, Echoes from a Tower, The Art of Robert Burns,More Art of Robert Burns.
Together with Ian Lowthian, she has also developed a French and Blues programme which has already been performed to great acclaim at several venues. She is particularly fond of singing the songs of James Hogg (The Ettrick Shepherd) and Robert Burns, and often performs at events with Lucy Cowan (Director of Pro Corda North) formerly of The International Cello Centre at Edrom. She was a member of the innovative group Sangs and Clatter which specialised in bringing live Scottish music into the classroom.
