Harry has been singing and playing since knee high and is now a professional entertainer around the hotel and village hall circuit in and around Glenshee. Harry does a wide range of material from tradional folk, popular Scottish, Irish and 50s & 60s as well as some country. He has written many songs over the years and recorded at least fifteen in recent years. His instruments include guitar, mandolin and bagpipes.
He was born in 1952 to Harry & Hilda in a one room wooden hut on Barry Downs near Carnoustie and was destined to a life of upheaval as father & mother searched for any work that was going. Often it would be anything that could be picked by hand from tatties, carrots, neeps & every sort of berry that was grown for consumption. It was during these early years that music was a major part of his family's enjoyment. The mandolin was the first instrument to be played by ear at the age of 8 and then the guitar at 11 years old.
His father played many instruments; all of them by ear and they often played at family gatherings and school concerts together. A late start on the pipes at 38 gave him another string to his bow and has been a part of his act ever since. His music has taken him to some far off places and includes gigs in Germany, Cyprus, Holland, Kuwait, Bosnia & Ireland.
