Fiona Mackenzie

Fiona MackenzieFiona J Mackenzie is well known in Scotland as a Gaelic Singer and Song tutor. A Mod Gold Medallist, Fiona has released 3 albums - 'Orain nan Rosach' (2006),'Duan Nollaig' (Greentrax 2007) and most recently 'A Good Suit of Clothes'(Greentrax 2009). She performs regularly with Irvin Duguid (www.irvinduguid.com) and Katie Mackenzie on clarsach. She has performed and lectured in the US, Canada, Germany, Estonia, Holland, Ireland, Wales and is also well known as an adjudicator of Celtic/Folk Song.

She continues to manage a vocal harmony group for young people called Fionnar who have performed in Wales at the International Eisteddfod where they took the Pavilion by storm with their traditional 'waulking' and also in Ireland where they won the premier group prize at The Pan Celtic Festival in April 2006. They also released an EP (June 2009) on Fiona's own label, MacDug Music, entitled 'Sgoil Roc'.

She is delighted to have just been named as a winner of Burnsong 2009 and is looking forward to the Parliament 'Big Gig' on St Andrews day 2009. She is also keen to emphasise that she is NOT a relative of the Mackenzie Sisters from Lewis...
