Anne is a singer songwriter and performer of Folk music..Celtic - Trad;Contemp; and she also will sing any song, from most genres, if she thinks it fits with her set. Mainly Anne performs to theatre audiences and usually with Trochrague Folk Group. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. She made her debut album 'Wan Mair Mile' in 2008.
As a youngster, anne was performing in festival competitions in glasgow. She doesn't miss the tense atmosphere of ' being judged'...but wouldn't have missed it as she feels it gave her insight she might otherwise have missed. In her twenty's, she tended to perform in clubs etc., and enjoyed singing ballads and more 'pop' music. Later she switched to musical theatre and still says that this is where her heart often is. Anne performs mainly to theatre audiences but loves folk clubs, festivals and private functions. She started the east kilbride folk club 4 yrs ago and says it's going strong. She is the organiser of 'live folk' shows in various theatres...Rutherglen Town Hall; Art Centre Theatre - East Kilbride; Fort Theatre - Bishopbriggs.
Marriage had her put singing on the back boiler for some years. Sadly her husband died when they were married 12 yrs.
After some years anne says, 'life's tragedies have given me courage and insight for songwriting and I love not only making music, but encourageing others to use and develop their creativity.'
