In January of 2008, four talented individuals came together to create an evening of song, poetry and readings in celebration of Scotland's best-loved bard, Robert Burns. Their aim was to offer an eclectic collection of material written by and inspired by Burns - some of it familiar, and some less so - designed both to entertain, and to simplify the man and his works for those who find it all a bit daunting.
The show, called 'Simply Burns', was presented to a packed house at the Watermill bookshop in Aberfeldy. It was intended to be a one-time-only event, but as time went by requests were regularly received for it to be repeated. Eventually, the artists decided to revive the show and take it on the road throughout Scotland and beyond. The artists who perform the show are Douglas Craik (vocals and guitar), Linda Dewar (vocals, guitar), Anna Hepburn (spoken word) and Claire Hewitt (vocals, clarsach).
