Frjemd Folk is an enthusiastic choir of twelve Dutch men dedicated to Celtic Folk Music. On the initiative of Bram van der Weg and Hinke Jelsma, who is also a part of the musical accompaniment, the group was created in 2007. Unlike many other groups in this genre, the emphasis is on their singing. You must think of vocal, polyphonic music, with permanent musicians, violinist Nienke Jansen and guitarist Anne J. Wagenaar. Hinke Jelsma and Teye Benedictus play bass and flute respectively.
Since their start in 2007, they have created a versatile repertoire that is constantly expanded and updated.
Frjemd Folk have proven to be level and engaging, presenting their Celtic songs. Their idea is: to act in small(er) locations such as music cafes, cultural centers, churches, but also Celtic or Irish festivals.
The program offered by them can be expanded with Celtic tales and instrumental music.
They are able to provide an evening program on their own or supporting other artists.
